Marvin has an extensive career with 30-plus years in the oil and gas industry, including more than 16 years in the Drilling & Completions and Operations and Pipeline divisions with Amoco Canada (now BP Canada). Marvin completed his instrumentation technology training at SAIT and NAIT and obtained provincial and federal accreditation. He spent four years working in the instrumentation trade before moving into a TPM (total productive maintenance) role with BP Chemicals, then returning to terminal construction, operation and logistics. From 1988 to 1993 and 2004 to present Marvin has loaded more than 3,800 railcars and offloaded over 1,900; designed or assisted in the design of 33 terminals; converted eight terminals to load crude; and he and his team have trained and started 15 crude terminals since 2010. Marvin’s skills in the design, construction and operation of terminals and transloading facilities, measurement, safety and the intricacies of crude oil on rail have been in high demand.
Over the past seven years, Alison has worked on highly complex, transformative projects within rail transportation that include many variations of technology, including hardware, software platforms, and applications. She helped to build and lead cross functional teams in client experience and success, project and program management, innovation, business development and marketing. Existing as the connective tissue through demonstrated leadership and meaningful stakeholder engagement, she brings simplicity to the complex, regardless of the audience. As such, she is an accomplished integrator and operations strategist, having developed and executed programs with $1M+ budgets for projects with multiple vendors and collaborators.
Brandt has been in the rail terminal business for the past 15 years, working mostly alongside his father designing, training, commissioning, identifying, and modifying operating deficiencies. His focus over the past ten years has been assisting customers start up new terminals and helping to support them through the development of innovative systems and processes to improve the quality of measurement, the safety of the operators and reduce product loss within the industry. Brandt has been a part of 25-plus terminal start-ups of crude oil, LPG, NGL, bulk container, Bio-Methanol, non-hazardous feedstock, and Bio-Diesel terminals since 2011 across Canada and the United States.
Kalyn has been supporting the Simba team for 3 years, working in the executive administration role as well as logistics. Having been in professional administration since 2013, Kalyn brings a warm sense of organization, clarity and structure within Simba’s head office. She is your first point of contact and a trusted member of the team.
Kelly is a highly accomplished professional with 22 years of expertise in the oil and gas industry, specifically in facility operations. Throughout his extensive career, Kelly has demonstrated a remarkable ability to lead diverse projects, encompassing the coordination of contractors and maintenance departments, consultation on engineered changes, and adept troubleshooting of unexpected challenges. Kelly takes pride in his exceptional communication skills and has built strong, enduring relationships with clients and colleagues alike. His unique talent lies in understanding client needs and translating them into actionable plans with consistently positive outcomes. Moreover, he boasts a track record of surpassing targets by employing a strategic approach, drawing on the wealth of knowledge he has acquired through his extensive industry experience.
Chris is a career railroader with over 28 years of experience that has focused on transloading and related operations. In his previous experiences, he led a comprehensive portfolio that oversaw eight Class 1 railroad owned sites and private transloading facilities. During his tenure, his responsibilities included management of complex logistics operations, capital investment projects, market opportunity research and renewals, and day to day operations with a focus on rapidly increasing escalations. Chris is committed to achieving operational excellence, driving continuous improvement initiatives that foster cross-functional collaboration, and delivering results that positively impact the bottom line. He is a dynamic leader in the rail transportation sector, demonstrated through his focus on operational safety, effective cost control, exceptional service, and leading teams.
Braden has been a valued part of the Simba team for the last 7 years. He has helped to coordinate many different projects, start-ups, and operational endeavours across Western Canada. Braden oversees Simba’s compliance to governmental requirements and industry standards while supporting daily field operations and logistics.
